Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather My Supplies
I first gathered all the supplies I need for making my DIY holiday napkin rings. I laid out the cardstock, scissors, glue, ruler, pencil, decorative elements, hole punch, twine, embellishments, and paints.
Step 2: Prepare the Cardstock
Next, I took a piece of cardstock and used my ruler and pencil to mark out a strip that is about 1.5 inches wide and 6 inches long. This will be the base of my napkin ring.
Step 3: Cut Out the Strips
With my scissors, I carefully cut along the lines I just drew, creating several strips of cardstock. I made about five strips for the number of guests I’m expecting!
Step 4: Decorate the Strips
Now comes the fun part! I grabbed some decorative elements like ribbons, stickers, and stamps to adorn my strips. I played around with different designs, adding pieces of twine and strategically placing stickers until I was satisfied with each one.
Step 5: Attach Decorative Elements
Using the glue, I carefully attached the ribbons and twine to my cardstock strips. I made sure to let them dry for a moment so nothing would fall off!
Step 6: Punch Holes for Twine
Once everything was dry, I used my hole punch to make holes at both ends of each strip. This will allow me to tie the twine through the holes to secure the napkin ring.
Step 7: Assemble the Rings
I took a piece of twine and threaded it through the holes I just punched on each strip, tying a nice bow to secure it. Each napkin ring started to take shape!
Step 8: Add Final Embellishments
For the final touch, I sprinkled some embellishments like sequins and beads on the napkin rings for extra sparkle. It was so delightful to see how they really came to life!
Step 9: Setting the Table
Once I finished all the napkin rings, I couldn't wait to set the table! I arranged the napkin rings on the table along with the beautifully folded napkins for my holiday dinner.
Step 10: Admire My Work
Finally, I took a step back to admire my handiwork. The DIY holiday napkin rings turned out to be a lovely addition to my table setting, and they felt extra special because I made them myself!
